Madaket
Spent the late afternoon with the Burke family on the beach in Madaket. Couldn’t shoot on the South Shore because of the howling winds, so went into the lee of Madaket Harbor. I have shot the Burkes for several years – all super friendly, great kids, though a little squeemish about the comb jellies in the water. The light was awesome, though I’m continuing to struggle with the heavy orange that pops up while editing in ACR.

Robot Hand
I took some pictures of a scientist at Yale, Aaron Dollar, who has come up with a new concept for a robotic hand. Instead of a highly engineered and computerized device, he has created an elegantly simple apparatus that mimics the supple gripping action of the human hand. It relies on the gripped object itself, and some clever gearing, to dictate the form and strength of the grip. I never new Yale scientists could be so smart.

Two From Another Shoot
Professor Chiang invented a new car battery that is supposed to blow the shorts of the old ones. These were shot for Sierra Magazine. Abbott assisted.
