Belmont Acres Farm

There is a farm in Belmont (Massachusetts) that may very well be among the last of its kind - an urban farm that provides locally grown food to city dwellers. The land has been owned by a single family for generations, and is farmed by a small family committed to sustainable farming. Nestled in a quiet, residential neighborhood 5 miles from downtown Boston, Belmont Acres, as the farm is called, is a hidden emerald of green that even some longtime residents of Belmont do not know exists.  I spent the growing season, from April to November, from first tilling to first snow, photographing the daily life of this farm. The farmer Mike, and his small family, are the main characters in this story, along with their one employee, Abby, several volunteers, and the farm itself.
